Instead of showing your creativity and spilling the paint on canvas, the paint accidentally got spilled on your carpet.

You simply need to find out the solution to remove acrylic paint. And if you’ve decided to continue with your painting passion then be ready to learn the cleaning skills, along with painting skills. Definitely, it is simpler than painting.

Sometimes it is not that easy to get the stain totally removed and make the carpet look as flawless as before but certainly, there are some cleaning methods that will make the spots less noticeable and if you are lucky enough, the stains might vanish too.

If you are trying to remove freshly spilled acrylic paint then you can do away with it quite quickly.

Water or any cleaning solvent will help you to easily get rid of the wet paint spilled on the carpet. 

Another method to remove wet acrylic paint off the carpet 

  • Create a cleaning solution by mixing mild liquid soap ( 1 teaspoon) and warm water (1 cup)
  • Take a paper towel and dip it in the cleaning solution and blot the stain
  • Now again take a dry paper towel blot it on the stain, let it dry
  • Continue the previous step, until the stain is removed

However, in case the paint is dried, you can still remove it from the carpet by following few easy methods:

Methods to remove dry acrylic paint

Materials required

  • Putty knife
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Vacuum 
  • Isopropyl alcohol
  • Glycerine
  • Acetone
  • Dry cloth

Method 1 

Step 1 – Scrape the dry paint

Scrape the dry paint as much as possible with a putty knife and needle-nose pliers. Remove the dry flakes.

Step 2 – Apply isopropyl alcohol

Now take a dry cloth and dip it into isopropyl alcohol and blot the stained area. Let it soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 3 – Blot the stain 

Dab the spot and blot it with a dry clean cloth. Use steam vacuuming for better results.   

Method 2 

Step 1 – Try acetone 

If the stain is still visible, you can try using acetone and blot the spot.

Step 2 – Soak it

Let the acetate soak for a few minutes. 

Step 3 – Blot

Blotto lift the stain, do not scrub it.

Step 4 – Continue blotting

Now use a clean area of the cloth to blot.

Step 5 – Steam vacuum 

You can later perform a steam vacuuming process. 

Method 3 

Use glycerine 

You can also use concentrated glycerine to soak the stain. Let it saturate for around an hour or 2 and blot it until the stain gets cleaned. 

Extra tip – If the acrylic paint stain is not too stubborn, you can also try using some brush cleaner to remove the paint spilled on the carpet. 

Don’t lose patience. Patience and little efforts will certainly pay off.  So keep trying till you get satisfactory results.
